What’s new in Stay & Play? Check out the attached letter from Grace. WHS Parents: Please don’t forget to turn in your Vacation Day Care forms for March. We need them by this Tuesday (March 17), so that we can staff appropriately. Thanks! -Grace

We need someone to volunteer to help with the Reverse Raffle portion of the Auction. Please step up and contact Mary Fyie to let her know you can help.

CANDY SALE: You each received a candy sale form in your child’s backpack on Friday. One is attached here also. Please take them into work and share with friends. This event helps our auction.

Shop Around: We need two orders for Silpada Jewelry in order to get 30% of our total orders in free merchandise for the auction. The catalogue with order forms is available in the lobby.

Spring Break begins at the end of this week and Friday is an early dismissal day.

Thanks to Tyler Brown and helpers Pete Morse and Patrick McCafferty for a fun “Muffins with Mom”. Also thanks to everyone who sent in money or food donations and the Intermediate and Middle School classes who set up the tables.

ERB Testing for INT & MS students is this week – get lots of rest and a good breakfast each day!

AUCTION UPDATE: The next meeting is TOMORROW, 3/17 @ 6:30. We still need items for the auction of all sizes and value. Contracts need to be in by April 1st to get into the auction program.
TIP OF THE WEEK: Please donate at least 1- $30.00 or up item to the auction. We desperately need this input from everyone!

Our MOM TO MOM SALE was a huge success! Special thanks to Mary Fyie, Care Wright, Kristin Hildebrandt and everyone who helped set up and shopped! There were some spectacular deals, and our families’ contributions made this a wonderful event for the school.

Partner Yoga on this Thursday, March 19th: April Kale, Welsh Hills School parent and Granville Fitness Instructor/Trainer will guide us through this evening of relaxation and fun with a 65 minute partner yoga session. See attached flyer to register.

“Muffins with Mom” is coming up on this Thursday, March 12th. Dads who are putting on this event are looking for donations of items or cash to make this event a fun and successful one for our children and moms. Please open the attached form and return it with your child.

Our 2nd In-Service Date has been scheduled for Monday March 30th. We will be attending a Montessori Conference in Cincinnati. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Thank you to Care Wright for hosting our 2nd Admissions Coffee this morning.

Please have all donations for this sale to the school by this Thursday. 3/12. We will begin setting up immediately after Muffins with Mom, so if you can stay and help, that would be great! We will be sorting clothes by size all week if you can stop by and help with that. Please send in plastic and paper bags with handles for the sale. THANKS FOR YOUR DONATIONS AND SUPPORT. It looks like it will be a good sale with lots of items.

March “Good News” is attached. RE-ENROLLMENT CONTRACTS ARE DUE TODAY.

What’s new in Stay & Play? Check out the attached letter from Grace. Also, attached is March’s Vacation Daycare Registration!

We will have door hangers focusing on possible admissions from the Newark City Schools area ready to be put on doors by the end of this week. Some of you volunteered to do this in your areas or around the Newark area. If you can, we have a map of the areas we would like to target and welcome help in getting these up over the weekend. Please contact Gina ASAP if you are willing to volunteer this coming weekend!

“Right to Read Week” – Starts today – if your child did not bring in their orange TV log please have them do so tomorrow. We are looking forward to the “Read A Recipe” potluck on Wednesday @ 11:30. This is an event that parents come to with a dish that students have read the recipe for and prepared at home. This will be followed by a “Read In” that parents will share with their children. You are welcome to bring a book with you.

TIP OF THE WEEK: Did you know everything you donate to the auction is tax deductible. After the auction we will send you a thank you letter with the tax ID # and all information you need for 2009 tax purposes.

MOM TO MOM SALE
Donations are starting to come in for this sale. They can be dropped off any time and left under the tables in the Great room or taken upstairs to Gina’s Office (especially toys). We have donation slips if you need them, and all items lets at the end of the sale will be donated to a local charity. THANKS FOR YOUR DONATIONS AND SUPPORT.

TUESDAY MEMO 2/17/09

Our 2nd In-Service Date has been scheduled for Monday March 30th. We will be attending a Montessori Conference in Cincinnati. MARK YOU CALENDARS!

We are beginning to have the COFFEES to help encourage our families to engage friends and family to look at Welsh Hills as an educational opportunity. The first one will be hosted here at school by Christi McCarthy on Saturday, February 28th from 9:30 – 11:00. Feel free to drop in any time during those hours. See attached invitation – give one to somebody!

AUCTION UPDATE: Did you know: we are looking for fun & unique items/experiences that we can auction (like a balloon ride!)? We can use donations from a couple of dollars in value and up (we can combine gift certificates and other small items together in baskets, etc.) Please come to the meeting on the 25th.

CHILDREN’S CLOTHING SALE LADIES NIGHT OUT
Welsh Hills is sponsoring a Used Children’s Clothing & Toy Sale on Friday, March 13th for our families in conjunction with a Ladies Night Out. We will be opening the sale to the public on Saturday, March 14th. If you have gently used children’s clothing, toys or baby furniture we are looking for donations. Please bring all clothing to the school washed and sorted by size. If you have complete outfits we ask that they are bagged together. If you have gently used toys or baby furniture make sure they are clean, have all the parts and have not been recalled. This is a great way to get rid of your stuff that you and not sure what to do with and help the school at the same time. MONDAY MEMO 2/9/09

There’s a lot going on this week:
Tuesday (2/10) we are going to have the Crazy Mixed Up, Backwards Day SPIRIT DAY make-up.
Wednesday (2/11) is Open House from 9:00-11:30 – tell/bring some friends
Friday (2/13) is an Early Dismissal Day. We will also be celebrating the 100th day of school & Valentine’s Day

What’s new in Stay & Play? Check out the attached letter from Grace. “I wanted to remind everyone that we are offering a half day of Vacation Day Care on early dismissal day, Friday, February 13 (12:30am to 6:00pm), and a full day of Vacation Day Care on Monday, February 16 (8:30am to 4:30pm). Please note that we do not offer early morning care on Vacation Day Care days. If you are interested and haven’t signed your child up yet, please contact Laura Brown as soon as possible so that we can staff appropriately. Thanks!” Grace

Exciting website update: We have launched a blog on our website that will enable you to get quick updates from the school and classrooms. We have just added this feature, and teachers have not yet begun to use it. We hope this will provide another easy way to get up to date information to you. Right now we are posting the Monday Memos there and will add other timely information there as well. To access the blog, go to our front page and click on the red blog button in the lower right corner.

PEANUT FREE ENVIRONMENT: Just a reminder that we are a peanut-free environment. This is a health issue for some children in our building throughout the year, including summer, for whom this is a serious, even life threatening, situation. Please do not send you child with any food items that have peanut/peanut oil in them. We will send home any items we may find unwrapped.

AUCTION UPDATE: We had a very successful auction meeting on Wednesday night. Many new faces were there and we really appreciated their input and willingness to help. The next meeting will be on February 25th at 6:30. We hope you can all make it. If you can not make the meetings, we still have ways you can help. Attach find the volunteer list or contact Laura Brown, volunteer coordinator for idea on how to help in ways that fit into your families lifestyle. Look for new information heading your way soon.
